Question 116
Dear Preschool
Teacher,
I have to do an informative speech on being a
preschool teacher. Could you tell me the different roles the
teacher plays ex: mother, nurse, cheerleader. Also any
suggestions on an attention getter to start my speech? Thank you
for your help.
Many Roles
Dear Many Roles,
A teacher is a "mom" or "dad",
a housekeeper, a nurse, a nose wiper, a wash your hands instructor, an
encourager, a nutritionist, a scientist, an explorer, a singer,
an entertainer, a storyteller, an artist, a drill commander, a line leader, a
hand holder, a coat holder, a door stop, a mediator, a construction worker, a
mathematician, a writer, a creator, a shoe tier, a beautician, a friend,
a confidant, a zoo keeper (for class pets), a janitor, a repair person, a
dreamer, a realist, a tear wiper, a computer technician, a director, a prop
person, a librarian, you name it , teachers have probably done it, at least
once!
I might try to get everyone's
attention wearing different hats on top of each other or carrying a huge
bag filled with hats or supplies for each of the roles a teacher plays in the
classroom. I would ask if anyone knows why you are wearing them or why a
certain object is in the bag? Good luck with your speech.
