Question 154
Dear Preschool
Teacher,
I am currently an ECE student that is working
in a preschool. I am trying to complete an assignment on a rhythmic
movement activity for 3 -5 year olds. Do you have any
suggestions other then wheels on the bus?
Getting the Rhythm
Dear Getting the Rhythm,
What about the song Bingo? The clapping to replace the letters of Bingo is difficult for the children to master, but once they do it's really fun!

Dear Getting the Rhythm,
There are so many rhythmic movement activities
from which you could choose. There are fingerplays, songs and games.
There are some terrific songs available on records, cassettes or CD's by such
artists as Hap Palmer, Greg and Steve, Charlotte Diamond, Raffi, and many
more.
There are nursery rhymes too! There are even videos that can be borrowed
from the library.
Some quick ones you may already know:
Where is Thumbkin?
This Old Man
Bingo
Five Green and Speckled Frogs
There are so many. Even the good old standby, Head, Shoulders, Knees and
Toes!
