that change colors, because he wants to be different.

Are you thinking of "Have
You Seen My Cat?" by Eric Carle? It isn't about a cat who changes
colors, but it is about different kinds of cats.
For books with a theme about being different, you could also try "Swimmy"
or "Fish
is Fish" both by Leo Lionni.

Dear What's That Book,
I have a book by Jean Feldman called Storytime Friends of Jean Feldman.
One of the stories is Scat the Cat. It is about a cat who is
black. He decides he wants to be a different color so he says
"I'm scat the cat, I'm sassy and fat, And I can change my color
just like that!" He does this several times - changing to green,
then blue, then yellow, then red. He finally decides to change
back to black. He is happy just being himself. If this is the
story I could write send it to you as a complete story. According to
Jean, the source is unknown. I looked on Amazon.com and found a
book "Scat
the Cat" by Sarah Tatler. I'm not sure if it is the
