6-19-00 Question 33

Dear Preschool Teacher,
What goals should a teacher of three year olds achieve during the school year?  What goals are appropriate for social, emotional, physical and cognitive?
Thanks,
Goals For 3's

Dear Goals For 3's,
I teach both a 3 and 4 year old class.  My goals for my 3 year old class are learning their shapes, colors, and numbers 1-5.  My goals also are for them to be able to share toys and play well together, sit for a reasonable amount of time at circle time, line up to go outside, bathroom, etc.  When we returned from Christmas break, we began using scissors.

Dear Goals  for 3's,
Goals  for threes should be mainly social skills, learning to share and take turns, learn colors, possible shapes, small and large motor skills, like cutting, drawing strain lines using dot to dot, sit for a reasonable amount of time-a short story usually, go to the bathroom with little or no help. Each child learns in different stages  and areas and it is so much fun to see them grow in all areas.
