Question 88
Dear Preschool
Teacher,
Are there any foods that begin with the letter u or
x to give to my children at snack time?
Eating Letter U And X
Dear Eating Letter U And X,
For the letter "U" we drink "UNPOP",
which is any kind of drink besides
pop!
For the letter "X", we cut cheese
into strips and place them across each other to make Cheese-X's.
We also do the same with pretzels. I know this isn't much help,
but these letters are a little difficult!
Good Luck,
Jan

Dear Eating Letter U And X,
Look for alphabet cereal! Give them u and
x first, and then let them have a handful more of mixed letters!

Dear
Eating Letter U And X,
There is a fruit that is called Ugli
fruit. It is a citrus fruit that can be found at most larger
grocery stores. I don't know of any X foods, so we make X-tra
special cookies (basically roll out cookies) and then shape them into
X's.

Dear
Eating Letter U And X,
How about upside-down cake, or Ugli fruit.
My one book lists Xigua, which is the Chinese name for watermelon.
Maybe candy kisses (X's)? Or pretzels made into X's.

Dear
Eating Letter U And X,
I can't think of any off the top of my
head. However, I would suggest making pretzels or cookies in the
shape of these letters. The children can each get their own
handful of dough and try making the letters following your example.
Just a thought!

Dear
Eating Letter U And X,
How about an Upside down
cake for U. For X make X's with licorice.

Dear Eating Letter U And X,
I know there is an ugli fruit but I do
not know much about it. There are upside down cakes. You
could always make up a silly name for a snack to relate to the theme
you are studying.
