Question 31 / Hand washing Help
Dear Preschool Teacher,
I am a Registered Nurse going to school for my
bachelor's degree in Nursing. I am assigned to do a teaching project
to a preschool class on the importance of hand washing. I would
appreciate any tips you could give me as well as sites where I might
find some pictures for them to color.

Question 32/ Language activities?
Dear Preschool Teacher,
I'm in a Child Care class over at Bedford Science
and Technology center in Virginia, where we watch little
children ages 3 and 4. For a grade, we have to have a file
box with ten subjects and index cards. The purpose of this is so
we can write activities on them and so if we are in the lab with the
children, and we don't have an
activity planned for that day, we can look on the card and do that
activity. One of the subjects is language and I though of a couple of
things, but I can't think of/find anything else. The things I
thought of was to make and alphabet book, an animal book, and color
letters of the alphabet and cutting them out and spell out words that
they know. I was wondering if you could help me by giving me
some ideas or web sites. I would surely appreciate it if you
could help me.

Question 35/ Stuck in the mud
Dear Preschool Teacher,
A parent has asked me to sing a song about
mud that her daughter loves. She apparently learned it at her gymboree
play class and forgets the words. It sounded really cute... something
about "mud squishing up through your toes". I have never heard
this song before maybe you can help. Thank you in advance for your
time!

Question 36/ Kindergarten here she comes?
Dear Preschool Teacher,
My daughter will be 5 on November 21, 2000. I am
struggling with the issue of possibly putting her into kindergarten
this year or letting her stay in her pre-kindergarten class at
pre-school until next year. Her teacher has indicated that she feels
my daughter would do fine if she went on to kindergarten this year but
we are considering holding her until next year just to give her the
benefit of maturing for one more year. She is also small in size if
that matters. Do you have any suggestions?

Question 37/ Preschool Procrastinator Mom
Dear Preschool Teacher,
I am concerned about my three year old
daughter who is starting preschool this September. She has always
known her ABC's and her numbers to ten. But what should she know
before she goes in? Should she be able to recognize her name? She
doesn't really know what the letters are by site, she can only recite
them. My friend's son can recognize the entire alphabet (He is also
three). This concerns me, that she will be behind. I have a two year
old as well and have not been able to give her the one on one I use
to. She recently has started mixing up her ABC order, for example she
says abcdefghi k j and lmnopq s r. What can or should I do? Should I
worry? I don't want her to be embarrassed and I have been working with
her. Do you have any suggestions on books or flashcards etc.? She
loves to read and is
exceptionally smart, she really is. She is just lazy with things like
that, and I feel it's my fault I haven't helped her sooner. I feel
like such the preschool procrastinator mom.
